Looking for a festive gluten-free recipe to take along to your 4th of July celebration? Look no further!
As I have mentioned many a time, I LOVE 4th of July weekend. Warm weather, gatherings with good friends and family, FIREWORKS, Bocce tournaments (in my family at least!), festivals/fairs, and so much general merriment.
Oh, and the FOOD! Can’t forget the FOOD 😉
As you all know, I have a huge soft spot in my heart for festive/themed treats and, for some reason, patriotic treats are my absolute fav. So, if you’re looking for some gluten-free food inspiration for the 4th, you KNOW I’ve got you covered! I’ve rounded up a few of the delicious patriotic gluten-free recipes I’ve been eying for my own celebration. If only there were enough hours in the day to make and eat them all….
HAPPY 4TH, EVERYONE!
So patriotically perfect it almost hurts. These cookies (by yours truly) absolutely melt in your mouth and elicit almost as many “ohhhs” and “ahhhh”s as the fireworks themselves!
I’ve been drooling over Thoroughly Nourished Life’s Ricotta Cake for weeks now! Packed with red, white, and blue ingredients, I’m thinking the 4th is the perfect excuse to finally try this one out. And since it’s a holiday, I can totally get away with making/eating this for breakfast, right? 😉
No cookout is complete without a big tray of homemade Rice Krispies Treats! I’m LOVING Fresh April Flours’ patriotic version, using dried fruit as mix-ins for some festive flair. (Just make sure you use a certified gluten-free rice cereal to make these! There are lots on the market.)
That’s right – a dessert that tastes like cake batter, but is completely gluten-free! Plus, who doesn’t love puppy chow? This is a great finger food to take a long to any and every 4th of July celebration.
This smoothie from Chez Catey Lou is the perfect way to cool down on a hot 4th of July day. PLUS it’s packed with tons of antioxidants so you can feel a little better about overindulging in some of those OTHER beverages you will be consuming on the 4th 😉
How adorable and perfectly festive is What The Fork’s Patriotic Bark? Almost too cute to eat… almost 😉 I love Sharon’s idea to use it to decorate cakes or cupcakes, too!
What better way to say “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA” than with a big brown sugar sponge cake loaded high with fluffy whipped cream and endless amounts of berries? Just add some blueberries to make it a little more festive.
A multi-occasion Independence Day treat! This Patriotic Berry Bruschetta is perfect for breakfast, served as a finger food appetizer, or light dessert. And so good, you’ll be craving it morning, noon, and night as well.
Wine + Berries + Ice Cream. Need I say more? This boozy dessert from Show Me the Yummy is JUST what I need this 4th of July!
Sometimes the most unlikely ingredients make the best pairs! Watermelon, blueberries, jalapeno, shallots, mint, and feta come together with an orange vinaigrette to make The Heritage Cook’s tasty, festive gluten-free Firecracker Salad.
No 4th of July celebration would be complete without a pie! Loving that this easy Gluten-Free Strawberry Rhubarb Pie from My Plant Based Family is also vegan so everyone can partake. Perfect way to use up those last of the season strawberries, too!
What are your plans for the 4th? Do you have any fun traditions? What festive gluten-free recipes do you have your eye on? I’d love to know!
