LOOK NO FURTHER, my dears. Peppered Candied Pecans to the rescue!
These little brown beauties are pretty much my everything right now. (but don’t you worry: Gluten-Free Gingerbread Granola is still making a run for the #1 spot in my heart). They’re sweet, a bit salty, peppery, spicy, and – get this – refined sugar free! High-fives for a delicious holiday snack that will keep you from reciting lyrics to a Nelly song like it’s your job.

I’ve been putting them on salad, throwing some into my yogurt, stirring them into my oatmeal, adding them to my cheese board, and, if we’re being completely honest, taking an alarming amount straight to the face. But is there really any other way? 😁
You miiiiight have trouble sharing these peppered candied pecans once you smell them baking and take your first nibble, but if you can find the willpower to hold off (teach me your secrets!) they make the most ADORABLE gifts when packaged up in mason jars and tied with cute Christmas tags and ribbons.
Give ‘em to your bestie, your grandma, the kid’s teachers, your postman (he REALLY deserves a treat this time of year!), your girlfriends at work, or to your neighbor. Everyone – yes, everyone – will love them.

The BEST part? They are SO easy to whip up! In the amount of time that it takes you to get bundled up in your winter jacket, lace up your boots, and mentally prepare for the insanity that is last minute holiday shopping, you could have a ginormous amount of these pecans candied and peppered and waiting to be packaged up and gifted.
Peppered candied pecans might be my new favorite snack, and definitely my favorite gift. Move over granola, there’s a new nut in town.
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- dash of cayenne
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- ¼ cup real maple syrup
- 2 cups whole pecans
- Preheat oven to 300F degrees . Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.
- In a small bowl, combine cinnamon, paprika, cayenne pepper, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper.
- In a large bowl, toss pecans with maple syrup until well coated. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the pecans, and toss until evenly coated.
- Transfer pecans to the baking sheet, and bake for 30 minutes.
- Allow to cool, remove from pan, and store in an air-tight container.
